Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I highly enjoyed the lunch I devoured at Carmelo's early yesterday afternoon. My family and I arrived early for our tour at the chocolate factory across the street and decided it would be wise to get some lunch beforehand. The woman behind the counter at Whetstone informed us about this popular eatery, and we jaywalked our hungry selves over and were seated promptly. Now, I must say, it wouldn't be wise to bring a large group to this place; it is pretty small, but the five of us in my group pushed two tables together, no problem. I'd rate the service at an A-. There was only one waitress at the time we were there, but she was upbeat, friendly and energetic. Though she was busy we received our food in a timely fashion, and we didn't feel rushed. We walked in at 1:35 and were out by 2:10. Not too shabby, in my opinion. The meaty slice of pizza that I ordered was Delicious with a capital 'D,' and I'm a picky Chicagoan that knows what good pizza tastes like. This place could rival some of the better places in the windy city, for sure. If I ever return to St. Augustine I'll stop by Carmelo's again, and I'd recommend that you do the same.

I'm always on the lookout for great pizza. I was told this was the place, so we stopped by on our way out of town. Having 2 outstanding pizza joints in Gainesville, each new place we try naturally draws a comparison. I heard Carmelo's had good NY style pizza. What I got was a little thicker than I'd prefer and it was as firm as a wet noodle. I like my pizza nice and crispy. I had the carmelo's surpreme (minus mushrooms). The flavor was good, but it didn't wow me. The onions and peppers were near raw, which I would have preferred to be more cooked. My wife's calzone was better, but still pale in comparison to what we are use to. The garlic knots and marinara were the worst I've ever had from a pizza place. The knots had virtually no flavor at all and dipping it in marinara couldn't save it, as the marinara was thin and runny, equally lacking in flavor. My wife didn't care for the service, but I was fine with it. We only saw her when she brought the drinks, food, and check. No checking in on us, but we were sitting 15 feet from her, she could see if we needed any refills and they're in easy eye shot, so no big deal to me. Ok, but not great pizza. Nothing stands out, certainly no reason to go back.

Had Calzone, Pizza by the Slice, and Spaghetti and Meatballs. All were excellent. The crust on the Calzone was spectacular, very light and crispy. I was surprised by how fast it came out also. Only downside was I should have asked for the sauce on the side to be warmed up as it was served cold. Will know next time. Will definitely be back. Service by Taylor was great.

Mellow Mushroom is better... Just sayin'. We're from the North and I think that we're a little spoiled when it comes to pizza. The dough is really good- but the toppings are so-so.

We heard that this is a local's favorite and had to try it. We were greeted by this very nice British gentleman who seated us. The atmosphere was cool and the restaurant itself was clean... wasn't sure before entering since it's attached to a gas station. Service was fast, we ordered the garlic knots, stuffed pizza, regular slice, hawaiian slice, chicken fingers and fries for my little guy and spaghetti and meatballs entree. It got 4 stars because it's not really NY style pizza. Having grown up in NYC, we're very particular about what everyone else calls NY style. Don't get me wrong, the pizza was still pretty good, but the pizza in NY, you can fold in half and there is that layer of grease that drips and you know it's gonna be good. The pizza at Carmelo's, there was no folding or it would just break into two pieces. The food was plentiful and tasty, we all took 'to-go' boxes and what was even better... all that plus 4 drinks were all under $40. For that price, I'm a fan!

A lot of people believe, and would probably suggest, that the heart and soul of St. Augustine is in its historic buildings, landmarks, and rich tapestry of history in the old downtown area. Those who actually reside downtown know better; the heart and soul of St. Augustine is CARMELO'S. This awesome little store and restaurant is a staple of downtown living. Yeah, they sell gas. But this ain't no gas station. The interior is always well-stocked and clean, and, given that St. Augustine Police HQ is literally across the street, there's very rarely any trouble despite it being the only 24-hour place in town. The only brief caution I'd give is to lock your bike at the rack and avoid the sometimes-unsavory figures that can congregate near the doors. Because Carmelo's is always open and well-trafficked, it has the unfortunate issue of having to frequently disperse small crowds and individuals of the shadier populace. As for what it offers, Carmelo's is top-notch. Their prices can run you a few cents higher than your grocery store, but you pay for convenience here. The food and drink offerings on the convenience store side are pretty impressively varied for a store of its size; you can run here on a morning and pick up decent-quality bread, milk, eggs and coffee, or stop by late at night and grab a six-pack of seasonal microbrew and a healthy choice frozen dinner. LIMITLESS OPTIONS (not quite but pretty good anyway). On the cafe side, there's a whole gamut of weird vending machine drinks and healthy juice looking things, and there's PIZZA which, while not the best in town, is still pretty good! There are other menu options, but to this date I haven't given them a shot. If you live downtown and don't go to Carmelo's, I don't know what you're doing with your life. If you just happen to get downtown a lot, give it a shot! There's cool staff, all sorts of stuff, and it's reliable as hell.
(4)Matt S.
Carmelo's Rules! Hands down, the best convenience store in St. Augustine, and everyone who's been here knows it! Love the fact that it's 24 hours, and with the police station right across the street, you know you're safe. This place is always clean, and the dudes that work here are cool, and will always take care of you. Plenty of options available in terms of your typical convenience store staples (Beer, sodas, energy drinks, chips, candy, etc...), but also awesome pizza and sandwiches available, as long as you're not stopping in too late. Definitely a place to stop when you're preparing for a night out, or heading home from a night of drinking and hanging downtown. Stock up on water, energy drinks, and medicine to help with your hangover... Wish we had more Carmelo's all over town. In fact, I wish we had NOTHING but Carmelo's convenience stores in St. Augustine... A new favorite, and I will be back whenever I'm heading dowtown for anything.

Ordered their specialty pizza Ortolana, (mushrooms, spinach, red peppers, ricotta cheese, Italian sausage and marinated cherry tomatoes) and it was hot and delicious. We make a lot of pizzas at home and this was as good, their crust was better! Go for it! It's also a convenience store and gas station but their pizza is awesome!
(5)Alex F.
Seriously.... the best pizza in St. Augustine. You would never think that you could get great pizza at a gas station. We love thin New York style slices and this places fits the bill. Great crispy crust and excellent quality cheese that bakes up beautifully! Don't pass up this place for a good slice.
(5)Joe B.
Let me clarify... There is a gas station and convenience store, BUT Carmelo's pizzeria is awesome!!! Huge slices, a place to chill and watch the game, and cheap draft beer. What more could you ask for? A great little place to get away from the tourists and have some good food and good service. Check it out!
(5)Alex G.
One of the best Pizza places in Florida. There are very few pizza places that make genuine NY Pizza and this is definately one of them!! In St Augustine, if you like REAL pizza, Carmelos and Pizza Time on St George street are the only real choices. The only reason i gave them a 4 instead of a five is because im not a big fan of the bread they use for their subs. But the meats are delicious and their Chicken Parm is heaven!!!
(4)Joseph S.
Long wait for my chicken parm hero, but it definitely ranked 2nd best that I've had in the jax/st. Aug area. The cheese was adequately melted and the chicken was perfectly tender, but the bread was absolutely terrible. My biggest complaint about the south is its terrible bread. Carmelo's was no different. Haven't tried the pizza but I'll probably return at least once to do so. Won't be getting the chicken parm again!
(4)Manuela F.
Excelent food, fresh and tasty. Lots of healthy options. Everything clean and the service was great
(5)Stephanie A.
I stopped here for gas one day after a day of walking. When I stepped into grab a drink the aroma of the pizza oven was too hard to pass up! I ordered a large pizza that the waitress recommended and it was amazing! I'm pretty picky about pizza and this is a usual stop now on my way back to Jacksonville. Hyppo pops as well!
(4)Demetria M.
Not sure if this is the best pizza St. Aug has to offer but I'll just say that during our 3 day stay Carmelo's was the only restaurant that we weren't all that impressed with. The salad was good but the pizza, garlic knots, and calamari were not.
(3)Cristian G.
AMAZING! Visited St. Augustine for the first time and my girlfriend found this place on yelp because it was pretty cheap on yelp. Turned out to be our favorite spot from the entire week we spent in the city! We had the Carmelo Supreme pizza, Spaghetti with Meatballs, and the Garlic Parmesan Wings. Everything was A1!!! And this is the first time I've ever been willing to rate a place- that's how you know.
(5)Hillary S.
Wow, what a winner! Tonight's dining experience was both fantastic and a bit unexpected. Who would have ever thought a restaurant could be so delightful when it's not on the main strip and in part of a gas station. Never judge a book by its cover. We love Italian food and are always looking for the best one wherever we travel. We found it at Carmelo's! The Stromboli was to die for, the garlic knots were delicious! Highly recommend and can't wait to return. The service was timely and very friendly.
(5)Kathy F.
Rented segways across the street and they highly recommended this place for my starving family of four. My son loved his pizza by the slice, hubby got stuffed Carmelo special, other son got spaghetti with some ginormous meatballs and I had meat lasagna. Wow! All of it was incredibly delicious! Not to mention excellent, super friendly service. Restaurant is connected but separated enough from gas station to feel like its own restaurant. Will strongly recommend to any of my friends visiting the area and we WILL be back!
(5)Maura P.
It's a disservice to say this place is in a gas station. It's a small pizza place serving very good pizza within walking distance of downtown. We arrived just before the crowd but were never rushed. We brought our own wine and were graciously provided with wine glasses. It was a nice evening and I recommend the place.
(5)Mpocjt O.
Fantastic homemade pizza. Baked fresh, quality toppings.
(5)D M.
This place is the best. Don't let the location fool you. They have the best pizza in Florida!!!
(5)Eric T.
Who knew a restaurant attached to a gas station would be our favorite meal of our four day visit to st. Augustine?!? The wife ordered a calzone and was blown away by it. The crust is amazing. Highly recommended!
(5)Amber S.
Mellow Mushroom is better... Just sayin'. We're from the North and I think that we're a little spoiled when it comes to pizza. The dough is really good- but the toppings are so-so.
(3)Cristina F.
This is not Italian pizza... Good if you like your pizza loaded with ingredients, American style. Being from Italy, I was obviously disappointed. They also messed up my order - I had asked no olives, and there they were...
(3)Chuck S.
Best Italian food in the city and the best pizza for miles around! Carmelos looks like a hole in the wall attached to a gas station. It is. Very casual, come as you are dining. It has the best most reasonably priced Italian around. The pizza is outstanding. Service is very good. There is a full bar and a full menu. Dont miss the delicious garlic knots! Really good meatballs, Italian sausage and big portions of flavorful, well prepared low priced totally delightful food! Cons: Awful parking
(4)Bryan W.
This place in a handyway store on steroids. It has come a long way since its days as the "Connor Shell." As mentioned by others, the pizza is super! Great place to get some boiled pnuts, and Barnies Coffee!
(5)M. Isabel M.
I researched where to have good pizza while we were visiting St. Augustine & had heard good things about Carmelo's. We were not disappointed, to say the least. This quaint little pizzeria had very friendly & very fast service. Our pizza was DELICIOUS and the price was very reasonable. But what topped it off from a 4 star to a 5, was the impromptu visit from the owner/cook. He came to visit all the tables (as they were packed) and was genuinely glad to meet you. Great experience, great food!
(5)Jen G.
Stopped in here after a visit to the winery and the chocolate factory nearby. It seems like there's a more casual feel to this, so you're expecting crappy pizza. It's next to the gas station. Service was good, and pizzas and calzone were delicious, as was the lasagna they made into a smaller portion for my toddler daughter (which was truly appreciated). Voted one of the top pizza places in St. Augustine, we are glad we stopped in and gave it a chance.
(4)Frederick N.
Update! Carmelo's made good on my complaint to the management. They gave me a free pizza when I ordered $17 of food for a re-try. The only complaints I have are as follows... 1.) The Calamari STAY AWAYY!!! Just plain awful. Suggestion Stop using Bait 2.) The new and always loved Delivery charge $1.49 Plus the desserts are always days old. I know this because they come with a package date on the containers. Pizza still good and calzones are fresh. Most prices are decent. Now also a $15 MIN for delivery. It was $10.
(3)Diana S.
Great thin slice pizza. The toppings are flavorful and the cheese is not overwhelming There are so many good things to choose from. The staff is friendly and efficient. Very close to the center of town. The prices are reasonable and affordable -especially for the large portions. Recommended by a Flagler college skateboarder.

We were referred here by the guys at San Sebastian Winery (across the street from here), but ironically they offer every wine BUT the local San Sebastian. The winery may change their mind if they had the experience we did. We walk in and the young ladies call out "sit anywhere you like"... well if any of the open tables were clean, we might. They were a mess, both table tops and floors. This pizzeria is linked to a gas station, so I guess that should have told us something, but again, the winery guys seem to love this place. We ordered panni's, Italian sausage sandwiches and slices of pizza. The food was barely average and I am being nice. The Italian sausage sandwich was overcooked (no juice whatsoever from this log). My kids were not impressed with the pizza; Little Caesar's is comparable for a lot less. The hostess never came back to ask if everything was ok and we had to practically stack the plates to get the check and get out of here. The price was low (granted), but so was the quality. If you want a good St Augustine dining experience, avoid this gas station cafe.

Atmosphere: Nice local spot. Normal decor, nothing special. Not much parking. Service: Varies. I've had good and bad service there. (Good service when they were busy, and bad service when they were slow. Sounds weird but that's what ended up happening) We ordered a 20" pizza and got a 16" and the server corrected it and gave us a free 20" pizza and paid for the 16" with a sincere apology. Food: Appetizers taste all prepackaged, Fried Mushrooms, Fried Calamari, and Fried ravioli are all not worth ordering. They usually have an overwhelming fried taste. Pizza is on point. Usually order the Ortolana. I suggest always ordering the 20". For some reason when I've ordered a small or large pizza, it just doesn't have the same quality. Hot and Cold Subs are all mediocre, nothing special, and something I can make at home. Cost: All of the appetizers are not worth the price, neither are any of the subs. The pizzas are reasonably price and are worth the cost. Overall: I'll only go here for the pizza.

Best. Calzone. Ever. Seriously. You have to come here early on weekdays, if you come during the lunch rush, you will wait in line. The pizza and calzones take a long time- be prepared to wait. But it is worth every second of waiting time. Get extra sauce for the calzone because it is delicious!

Small pizzeria shared with a gas station in downtown St Augustine, FL. Nice on the inside, decore, etc. the menu boosts a variety of decent items to try. Deli sandwiches, hot sandwiches, paninis, appetizers (fried schrooms, garlic knots, fried ravioli), chicken wings, salads, stuffed pizza, and last but not least......NY brick oven pizza. Pizza was decent. Comes in three sizes....12" 16" 20". Fresh toppings, nice crust, fresh mozzarella, etc. The sausage was particularly good. Very large slices. The slices so large almost a necessity to use a fork (which is taboo!). Could of used a few more minutes in the brick oven but overall a decent NY pie. Open seven days a week, catering menu, carry out, and offer pizza by the slice (for those opting out of ordering an entire pie). Would re visit this pizzeria again.
(3)Franklin H.
Wow, what a gem. Quite honestly the greatest, cleanest gas station you ever find, and tucked in the corner, one of the best pizzas you're going to find at the Saint Augustine area. Locally owned, locally managed.. Sure parking is not great, but once you get inside, your understand why you came.
(5)Greg C.
1st and foremost, do not let the fact that it's connected to a gas station throw you off. Surprisingly, 2 of my favorite Italian spots now on our road trips have been connected to a corner store. Great selection of both wine and craft and domestic beers (draft and bottle). Brooklyn (owners daughter) was our waitress and did amazing with great recommendations for our table of 8. We ordered a variety of fried mushrooms, jalapeño poppers, pizza, and calzones. Sizes (especially calzones) are huge. Me and the fiancé split ours and still had leftovers! Definitely recommend!
(5)Darla R.
Being a pizza parlor owner myself I tend to be a little partial but this is some darn good pizza! I had a calzone and it was HUGE. Their garlic knots are to die for. I do wish they had more garlic on them though. (I like to taste my garlic but that's just me.) There's nothing fancy here but if you're looking for some good ol' fashioned pizza this place is it. Great job guys!
(4)Thomas M.
We discovered this little gem on King St by accident and then ate there two days in a row, even with all the other selections in St Augustine. We ordered salads, sandwiches, pizza and calzone during those two visits and the food and service was awesome. When I pulled in and saw the gas and convenience store alongside, I was unsure what we were getting in to. But as an an avid Yelp user, I went off of the reviews and I am glad I did. Not a local but will definitely make it a point to stop back whenever I am in town. Tom in Virginia Beach
(4)Anthony K.
I'll be honest I was skeptical going in I mean it's a pizza Parlor connected to a gas station and a convenience store. But I was proven wrong. The Decor was nicer than I expected. In one area is the parlor with pizza & to the right is the bar with a dining area. It's actually a decent size bar to sit down have a drink watch the game and have a little something to eat. I'll go back again.
(4)Mindy P.
The pizza and baked ziti was good! In addition, you get the bang for your buck. The prices are very reasonable and the restaurant has moderate traffic. So, waiting to be seated and served will not be an issue. I recommend this place for pizza if you are in the a Saint Augustine area.
(5)Rick S.
Well worth coming to a gas station for pizza! Busy but awesome staff and even better pizza!
(4)Dave O.
Don't know if they sell more gas or pizza, but this is a very busy corner. Stopped in here to fuel up and it was non-stop traffic in and out of this place so they must be doing it right. Newer style gas pumps with ads running on the HMI the gas was a little more expensive than I saw around the area but I like Shell so when possible I tend to be loyal to the brand.
(4)Leo C.
My wife is a meatball snob - but the spaghetti and meatballs hit the mark on the spaghetti, the "gravy" as well as the meatballs themselves. I had the slice of Sicilian pizza, which has a great tasting crust, nice blend of cheeses and a great sauce. Definitely a great find!
(5)Diana C.
This pizza is awesome. Hands down the best. I will be making a trip to St Augustine just for pizza. Don't let the fact that the are attached to a gas station deter you. They have a nice eat in and servers wine and beer. Great find! I will be back.
(5)Alberto D.
Amazing food, great price. The attention to detail and service from Katie and Dave is simply the best. I highly recommend this place.
(5)Kaneil Smith S.
If you like thin crust pizza you'll probably like Carmelo's. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and Hawaiian. I always get this combination whenever I go to a new pizza spot. The ham on the Hawaiian was pretty good. Overall pretty good. The slices are large. If I could compare their another I would say think of it as a bigger slice of Al's pizza with better toppings. I'd go back. I wasnt overly impressed but it was good. More like 3.5 stars good.
(4)Liza M.
My friend has been trying to get me to try this place for a while and I was like no thinking that it would not be great! I didn't want to waste my money as I did before at a few other so called gourmet pizza restaurants nearby. Well we tried it tonight and I am so amazingly satisfied. They ingredients and topping are fresh and he sauce is great! The pizzeria is located inside or attached to a store that's also sells Shell gas and other items you would see in a store. The dining area is very clean and the customer service from cashier and cooks were very nice. I'm looking forward to another visit. I do believe they have been voted for best pizza four years in a row. If I had known that I would have tried sooner. We ordered and waited for the pizza and it did not take long at all maybe 10 min.
(5)Mary B.

I do wish they had more garlic on them though. (I like to taste my garlic but that's just me.) There's nothing fancy here but if you're looking for some good ol' fashioned pizza this place is it. Great job guys!

(5)Michael B.
You want a bad review from me? Tell me what you can't do for me when I'm trying to give you money. Just called to order ahead so my pie is waiting for me when I get there. Done it a dozen times. Sorry, we don't do that any more. You don't do what? Let me order a pizza from you and let me sit there and eat it? Really? You know what I don't do any more? Eat at Carmellos. It's called customer service. Learn it. Live it. Love it. No soup for you. One year.

Best Pizza in St. Augustine. Great food - garlic knots, pizza, sandwiches, entrees (spaghetti and meatballs - my favorite), stromboli, calzones. Really the best tasting and extraordinarily reasonable pricing. This place is attached to a gas station and convenience store - don't let the setting fool you. Go in, sit at a booth with red and white checkerboard and order to your hearts content. A hidden gem in St. Augustine with fabulous food, excellent service and good beer and wine choices. We're local. we eat out every day in upscale and divey places. All we want is good food, reasonable prices and comfortable setting. Carmelo's has it all! We love this place!
(5)John B.
This is a St. Augustine gem! You should not miss an opportunity to stop in and try the fantastic pizza and wings. Voted Best in St. Augustine many times over. This place has so much to offer. Great food, fully stocked C-Store and Shell Gasoline. Little outdoor patio was just a perfect place to enjoy the weather. Easy walking distance to downtown and Flagler college. This is not your typical gas station but a destination for great food. This is exactly what you want to find in a small town. I looking forward to going back on my next visit.
(5)Jon D.
By far the best Pizza I have had in years! Can't wait to come back for a sandwich! The staff was very friendly and genuinely happy that we came in to eat.
(5)Mark H.
Stopped in here to actually get gas on the way back from St. Augustine one night and wanted to go in a grab a drink. Once inside, it quickly became apparent that this was no ordinary gas station. It was more like a market place that happens to offer gasoline. What I found tucked away in the back corner was a jaw-dropping deli and brick oven pizzeria. I ordered up a cheese slice, even though I wasn't remotely close to being hungry. It was truly one of the most delicious slices of pizza I've ever had. I've been here twice and plan on making a pit stop here every time I come to this city!
(4)Rafael S.
Awesome pizza. Best in whole area. Ingredient can't be better. Service is awesome. Affordable prices.
(5)Alan D.
2nd best Pizza I had in Florida. Recommend to try it, the place isn't in the best place but it's so worth it! Foods is great!
(5)Silas T.
Ben Giddens is the sexiest man alive. Good homemade sauce you can't get but from Ben. Find him and have him make you a diced pepperoni pizza!!
(5)Josh F.
Carmelo's restaurant does a fantastic job. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The food is always on point, cheap, and filling. They have multiple T.V.s in the dining room which will always have a game on. Their beer on tap is normally some "American" style like Budweiser or Amberbock but the mug that it comes in is like a pitcher. I have had many good times here and never hesitate in going back.
(5)D.j. K.
Pizza is one of the better ones in St. Augustine. Pizza well cooked but sauce is just ok. For a pizza; I would say the only possible downside would be the sauce. A bit spicy for my taste.
(4)Elizabeth G.
The BEST pizza in St Augustine. It's at the gas station but don't let that discourage you. Excellent pizzas of all kinds with a great crust ( dough made by a local bakery). I'm from NYC so if I say it's good pizza, it's good pizza. Pleasant service, and there actually is a nice little restaurant attached if you don't want it to go. The only thing I would like to see would be some salads to add to my pizza when I do take out.
(4)Conrad C.
I'm from Boston where we have some decent pizza so I wasn't expecting much out of a FL gas station. I delved into a slice of the Carmelo's Supreme with some extra pepps and was surprised how good the crust was. Now add the pretty girls that work there and that makes for a pretty good slice. They also have some outdoor seating if you like to watch tourists go by.
(4)Gigi S.
It's kinda messed up that my fave pizza in St. Augustine is from a gas station, but you know what? I'm not ashamed! It's clean, they have serious ovens, and they use Grande cheese, so suck it up and give em a shot. I'm so glad I did, and I can't wait to again.
(4)Brett H.
Was in town for a conference and the group felt like pizza so we were told to come here. At first we were a bit lost as we saw the market and the gas station but then we saw the pizza place tucked in the back. The place was busy but the food came out quick. It was really good pizza and hit the spot. Would recommend.
(4)Katy H.
(4)Will F.
after calling, to ensure we could get no garlic on a pizza. They said it would be no problem. We show up and they say that there pizza has garlic sauce and we would need to get something else, after we call in an order. So we wait for 30 minutes. we get home to our home and there is shredded garlic on pizza. good thing I took first bite instead of my mother who is highly allergic. terrible customer service. if you are looking for a first job this is the place. it shows. oh ya coffee is watered down and cold if your waiting. which you probably will

Life changing pizza..... Freaking omg wow
(5)Pauline W.
(4)Ed P.
Based on two visits, the food is good, the service is maginal and the establishment has some management issues. The first visit was marred by poor service although the food itself was fine. On our second visit, the only available table had been taken by someone who was not a customer yet management made no effort to remove this individual and seat us. We waited for a few minutes and left. There are plenty of alternatives for good pizza in St.Augustine, too many to put up with marginal service and management.
(2)Elisa G.
This place was great. We walked over from our hotel to have dinner and I was amazed by the appearance of the restaurant. The place is clean and appears to be only a few years old. Our waitress was very attentive to our needs. We decided to split a calzone, which ended up being a great idea because they are very big. Great taste. We also had the corn nuggets as an appetizer. I will definitely will be back on my next trip to St. Augustine.
(5)Marc M.
Fantastic Pizza and great service for a great price. I work downtown and have eaten at almost every restaurant. Nothing beats Carmelo's for food quality, service and value.
(5)Judi S.
(5)jeff h.
Had luch here and sat on the restaurant side. Very casual and comfortable spot with several TV's around. The place is part of a covenience store/gas station...seemed odd at 1st but once inside it made sense to me ? I think ? Anyways, I has the Italian sub which was very good and my wife had the eggplant parm. sandwich which was okay. Cute gal serving us was very attentive and on the ball.... Would DEFINATELY go back again.

Really enjoyed the Mediterranean pizza. They were busy the night we were in - and the pizza was slow coming but was great when we got it.

(5)Rick E.
Service was great. Pizza was so-so.
(3)Grace F.
It's kind of strange at first because it does look like it's part of a gas station, but it's separate in its own little sit-down restaurant. Had to wait a while, but the pizza was good if not a little thin.

(3)Allan H.
(4)Amber S.
Mellow Mushroom is better... Just sayin'. We're from the North and I think that we're a little spoiled when it comes to pizza. The dough is really good- but the toppings are so-so.
(3)Demetria M.

This is not Italian pizza... Good if you like your pizza loaded with ingredients, American style. Being from Italy, I was obviously disappointed. They also messed up my order - I had asked no olives, and there they were...
(3)Frederick N.
It was $10.
(4)Judi S.

Service was great. Pizza was so-so.

It's kind of strange at first because it does look like it's part of a gas station, but it's separate in its own little sit-down restaurant. Had to wait a while, but the pizza was good if not a little thin.

(4)Alex F.
(5)Nikita B.
Life changing pizza..... Freaking omg wow
(5)Ed P.

(5)Will F.
after calling, to ensure we could get no garlic on a pizza.

(4)Rick E.
Service was great. Pizza was so-so.

It's kind of strange at first because it does look like it's part of a gas station, but it's separate in its own little sit-down restaurant. Had to wait a while, but the pizza was good if not a little thin.

(5)Rick S.
Well worth coming to a gas station for pizza! Busy but awesome staff and even better pizza!
(4)Mindy P.
The pizza and baked ziti was good! In addition, you get the bang for your buck. The prices are very reasonable and the restaurant has moderate traffic. So, waiting to be seated and served will not be an issue. I recommend this place for pizza if you are in the a Saint Augustine area.
(5)Manuela F.
Excelent food, fresh and tasty. Lots of healthy options. Everything clean and the service was great
(5)Joseph S.
(4)Mary B.
Best. Calzone. Ever. Seriously. You have to come here early on weekdays, if you come during the lunch rush, you will wait in line. The pizza and calzones take a long time- be prepared to wait. But it is worth every second of waiting time. Get extra sauce for the calzone because it is delicious!
(5)Brad T.
(5)Leo C.
One year.
(1)Stephanie A.
